1. Make a list of everyone you know–friends, co-workers, neighbors, relatives–and let them know you are actively looking for a great significant other. Ask them if they know someone they could introduce you to. Make sure to let them know you won’t be angry or even a tad bit upset if the person they introduce you to turns out to be an idiot or just someone you are not interested in.
2. Join an interest club - outdoor activities, running, photography, writing, etc. Many people enjoy the outdoors. There are also clubs that focus on yachting or swimming. This is a great way to meet people in a relaxed setting–and at the same time, you’ll be getting great exercise.
3. Pick a place for breakfast and/or lunch each day where there seems to be lots of single available people. Frequent these places daily or as often as possible. Make sure you wear clothing that is attractive and has eye-catching colors. Smile a lot. Talk to as many people as possible, and become a familiar face. Eventually, you may strike up a conversation with that cute guy/girl you’ve had an eye one.
4. Hang out in bookstores or libraries. Attend lectures and poetry readings. You may hook up with a professor-type or a student doing research.
5. Do you have a thing for finance guys or architects? Are you attracted to writers, dentists or chiropractors? If you notice that people in certain professions turn you on, you can find them in the phone book. Contact them and tell them you are doing some research into their profession and ask if they can spare 20 minutes over a cup of coffee to tell you a little about what they do. Phoning someone you don’t know takes guts, but it may be well worth it.
6. Check the business section of your local newspaper for listings of promotions and achievements, and if you see an attractive person, drop them a note congratulating them. They may be single and very impressed by your gesture.
7. Get to know the people in your neighbourhood. Living two houses away might be that perfect soul mate. Have a party and invite all your neighbors–especially those you don’t know. Organize a block party, a barbecue, a potluck supper–whatever will get you acquainted with your neighbours.
8. Have a party where the invited guests are half women and half men, and each guest must bring a member of the opposite sex they’re not dating.
9. Attend lectures and self-improvement seminars.
10. Take dance lessons and attend dances.
11. Travel-on your own.
12. I still think going online is one of the best because this opens up the entire world to you! Go to a chat room where people are learning a language you want to learn - German, Japanese, French, etc.
